چکیده

Although widely used in workplace, indoor and ambient air quality assessments, diffusive sampling has not yet been established as a common tool for dispersion model validation. In this study, three mathematical models (STREET, OSPM and AEOLIUS) that are likely to be used for regulatory purposes were validated against experimental data obtained in two street canyons in Paris. Diffusive tubes were used to sample a wide range of traffic-related organic compounds at different heights and distances from the kerb. Model input information (site geometry, meteorological and traffic data) was obtained from the competent authorities and compared with on site observations. An algorithm describing vertical pollutant dispersion and an empirical relationship between CO and benzene were used. Diffusive sampling might be seen as a practical and cost-effective method for creating data sets for dispersion model validation.

Development of Advection-Dispersion Model of Dissolved Oxygen Using Numerical Solutions

Urban and industrial wastewaters are considered as the most contaminant of surface water. Entrance   of these pollutants to the river reduces the concentration of dissolved oxygen and aquatic life will be threatened. So, one of the main qualitative characteristics of water resources management is the concentration of dissolved oxygen. The base of the   developed model in this investigation is t...

On the onset of triple-diffusive convection in a layer of nanofluid

On the onset of triple-diffusive convection in a horizontal layer of nanofluid heated from below and salted from above and below is studied both analytically and numerically. The effects of thermophoresis and Brownian diffusion parameters are also introduced through Buongiorno model in the governing equations. By using linear stability analysis based on perturbation theory and applying normal m...

Microscale Obstacle Resolving Air Quality Model Evaluation with the Michelstadt Case

Modelling pollutant dispersion in cities is challenging for air quality models as the urban obstacles have an important effect on the flow field and thus the dispersion. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models with an additional scalar dispersion transport equation are a possible way to resolve the flowfield in the urban canopy and model dispersion taking into consideration the effect of the ...
